In his 18 seasons, Wells has won five regular-season conference championships, eight post-season conference championships and taken 13 of his 17 teams to NCAA Regional play, with three teams advancing to the College World Series.
He started at Alabama in 1995 and went to 10 NCAA Tournaments in 13 years. UA has also won six SEC Tournament (1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003) titles. Wells compiled a 553-272 record at Alabama.
In 2007 Alabama finished tied for sixth in the SEC at 15-15 but missed out on a Regional berth at 31-26 overall.
After last season's SEC co-championship season, Wells was rumored to be a candidate for the LSU job. He stayed at Alabama and received a contract extension and promises of facility upgrades.
While those facility upgrades have not moved swiftly, the source stated that "rumors about facilities being the reason are untrue."
